Frequently Asked Questions
Booking your portrait session can be stressful at times because there are so many questions you need to ask! And while I do offer complimentary consultations so that we have a chance to meet and I can answer those questions for you in person, sometimes you just need a quick answer.
That is why I compiled this list below of the most frequently asked questions I get about booking a session.
Don't see your question answered below? Give me a call at 385.319.8490 and I'll answer any other questions you may have! But don't be surprised if I suggest for you to book a complimentary consultation! ;)

Do You Have A Contract?
Yes! All of my clients sign a contract that ensures the understanding of both parties. No session will be booked without a signed contract. Any changes to the session, date, or time, will need to be in writing with signatures from both parties. This contract not only protects me as the photographer, but you as the client as well.
What is a Complimentary Consultation?
I encourage all potential clients to schedule a complimentary consultation! It gives me a chance to answer any questions you may have, you can see (and touch!) the amazing heirloom quality products that you can purchase from your session, and we have a chance to meet face to face before your session and get to know each other. It's a win-win all around!
When Should I Book My Newborn session?
The best time to book your newborn session is in your second trimester! The longer you wait to book, the more my schedule will fill up and I may not have availability around your due date. Another reason is because babies like to come on their own time! It can be so stressful trying to find a photographer last minute because your little one decided to come earlier than expected! Once you have signed the contract and submitted your deposit, your session date is secured.
How Old Should My Newborn Be At The Time Of His/Her Session?
Newborns are best photographed between 4 and 12 days old. At this age, they are still sleepy and pose-able. If your baby is older than 12 days, don't worry! It is still possible to get posed newborn images around 4 or 5 weeks old! If your baby is older than 5 weeks, I would consider doing a lifestyle newborn session or a milestone session.
Do You Provide Props?
Yes! Most of the props (headbands, hats, wraps, outfits) you see in my portfolio are part of my studio collection! I try to make a wide range of colors and textures available to my clients during their newborn session. I even provide some pieces ranging from 6 months to 12 months for milestone/cake smash sessions! Even though I offer a wide range of props to my clients, I always encourage my clients to bring sentimental or heirloom items from home. It's always so fun to get some portraits using a blanket grandma made or a baby girl in her mother's blessing dress. While I love incorporating special pieces into sessions, I recommend that parents not buy their own headbands or outfits. Most pieces that are available to non-photographers will be too large for a true newborn, even if marked as a newborn size.
A selection of designer maternity gowns are also available to you during your maternity session, or even during your newborn family portraits as they fit a wide range of sizes!

When Should I Book My Maternity Session?
The best time to book your maternity session is before your second trimester. Again, you'll want to book early to ensure availability on my calendar. The best time to photograph maternity portraits is right around the beginning of your third trimester. At this time, you will have a nice big bump and still be (somewhat) comfortable getting around.
milestones
When Should I Book My Baby's Milestone Session?
Milestone sessions should be scheduled as soon as your baby learns a new milestone that you want documented and before they move onto the next new thing. Cake smash sessions should be scheduled at least two months and no less than 4 weeks before your baby's first birthday. This will ensure that you will receive your images back before his/her birthday and be able to use them!
