I'm not sure what you would consider to be a successful cake smash because I love it all!  The melt downs, the blank 'what is this?' stare, the babies that dive right in or the ones that don't want to get messy (or the ones downright afraid!).

 No matter what you think is a successful cake smash session, you can't deny that Jennifer's was anything short of spectacular!  She tore into her cake like it was nobody's business.  This was the first time that I've photographed Jennifer and at first, she didn't know what to think about my big camera (as most babies do), but once the cake was brought out, she had forgotten all about that big black box in front of my face.

When it comes to planning and designing a cake smash session for your baby, simple is always best!  Jennifer's cake was decorated with minimal frosting (pro tip:  ask your baker for a 'naked' cake!) and adorned with some beautiful faux flowers from Hobby Lobby and Michaels.  Didn't it turn out beautiful?!
